Description:
Since updating to macOS High Sierra, I have not been able to open the SQL Editor on MySQL Workbench.

When I try to connect to the database, as usual, I'm given the following prompt:

"Opening SQL Editor
An SQL editor instance for 'xxxxx' is opening and should be available in a moment
Please stand by..."

However, after a few seconds, the prompt simply disappears and no SQL editor is opened. I'm given no error or any indication from the application that anything went wrong. I've tried redownloading the application, but I'm getting the same result.

I tried using previous versions of Workbench, and it works perfectly on version 2.6.5.

How to repeat:
Connect to database

Thank you for the bug report. Which kind of connection are you using (local, remote, over ssh, etc) and MySQL server version are you trying to connect with?. Thanks.
[12 Jun 2017 15:55] Dawson Cohen
I'm using a remote connection (Standard (TCP/IP)) to a MySQL server version 5.6.35.
[12 Jun 2017 16:50] MySQL Verification Team
Thank you for the feedback. I couldn't repeat, however I am using MAC OSX 10.12.5 and my App Store not gets the option 10.13 for upgrade.
[13 Jun 2017 14:54] MySQL Verification Team
I wasn't able to find in Apple store the version 10.13 as release update, so far the issue you reported isn't repeatable 10.12.5. Please point us where you get the version reported. Thanks.

Hi You need to upgrade MacOS by signing up for a beta release of v10.13. We really need a solution for this fast.
[22 Jun 2017 16:48] Chad McCue
Any updates?
[26 Jun 2017 3:30] Ernesto Rodriguez
Confirmed! This happens on macOS 10.13 (17A291j)
[29 Jun 2017 2:51] Samir Gartner
I manage to connect to the remote server using LAN by going back to version 6.3.2 but when I select rows from any table the tab just stays there with a spinning icon. Some times it says success but there are no rows.
[4 Jul 2017 2:04] John Sherwood
Confirmed. Using High Sierra Beta 2 and attempting to connect to BlueHost MySQL database for remote management. Exact same behavior...get connecting message but not past that. Just stalls. I have enabled the remote database for remote connections and can connect via Test Connection successfully.

I'm seeing this problem too. new install of mySQL 5.7.19 with Workbench 6.3.9.CE.
Install done on a MacPro with macOS High Sierra developer beta 4, build 17A315i.

access to mySQL via the local mysql binary is fine, but I cannot access the service for client apps or mySQL workbench.

The bug persist on MacOS 10.13 beta (17A362a) with local and remote databases.
In own personal case, we can connect, but it isn't impossible to make any other type of query, the query tab begins to work, but any result or message is shown on status & message panel.
We try and works correctly with MySQL native CLI on terminal.
[20 Sep 2017 13:58] Shawn Stephens
I can confirm I share Pavel del Pozo Rajas' experience. Query results simply do not display on the Mac OS 10.13 High Sierra GM release and earlier betas.
[26 Sep 2017 2:18] Chris Hallgren
I can confirm this is still happening on public release of High Sierra 10.13
[26 Sep 2017 11:59] James Haig
Is there any update to this? I am able to login but the Results Grid does not display.
[26 Sep 2017 15:00] J Donovan
+1 on MySqlWorkbench 6.3.9 not working properly with the public release of MacOS 10.13 :-(
[26 Sep 2017 16:42] Julius Cardozo
Is there a work around. Is this an issue with missing fonts?
[26 Sep 2017 17:25] yoni tseru
I have the same issue. I am able to login but the results grid does not showed. PLEASE FIX.
Thanks.
[26 Sep 2017 18:36] AYDIN BUYUKYILMAZ
I have the same issue too. I am able to login but the results grid does not showed.
[26 Sep 2017 20:00] MySQL Verification Team
I am checking this bug as duplicate of https://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=87862 which report is possible to login but the result grid doesn't shows the data returned,
[27 Sep 2017 13:06] Romain Riche
results grid not displayed on High Sierra and quite unstable (crashing)
a bit frustrating to see that this major regression has been raised long time ago when HS was already in beta but nothing has been fixed and the same issue still there when HS is now an official public release.

This is a definitively deserves a severity critical as it breaks a major functionality and no workaround is available

Hope a new HS-compatible version is released ASAP.

Now, what will happen to solve this problem ???? high sierra is not a BETAversion
[28 Sep 2017 9:04] Daniel Romero
I have downgraded to version 6.1.7 and it works correctly.

While fix the bug, I can work....
[28 Sep 2017 9:56] jo vogeler
dear Daniel, good idea. but I have to save every sql command. but it works. mysql be ashamed not to get ready for this bug since 3 months.

if your looking for a workable solution i found "Navicat" to be a reasonable product. I still prefer workbench when it works, but do really like Navicat's awesome query builder GUI. If only workbench had this feature and worked of course.
[28 Sep 2017 20:02] austin woz
This bug is most likely a repeat of the same issue when MacOS sierra was released, the issue details here. Don't hold your breath, see how long this one took to be fixed. It looks like workbench is no longer in active development.

Affected by this bug on 10.13 (17A405). Connects to DB successfully over SSH, queries appear to run, however, no results appear even though a response is acknowledged and the query is marked complete. After attempting any additional query, app gives bottom status bar as "Query Completed", but Action Output does not show the second query completed, the query tab shows the "working" spinning gear, and the app can only be force-quit as attempting to quit gives error "Cannot close SQL IDE while being busy"
[9 Oct 2017 3:12] Michael Probert
I am experiencing the same behavior as the last comment where The query completes and shows the details of the number of results returned but the table view of results never loads.

Mac OSX High Sierra 10.13 Connected via SSH Tunnel

I am as well facing the same issue as the person with the last comment. MySql Workbench needs to roll out a fix quickly.
[9 Oct 2017 10:30] Stefano Conti
Same problem no way to see the grid and hangs on simple query, everytime I upgrade the OS I'm forced to downgrade to 6.1.7 that works always fine, waiting for the correction

Same problem here. Doesn't work on MacOS High Siera, Workbench 6.3.*, 6.2.*, works with 6.1.7

Sequel Pro (Free) and Navicat Premium (Paid and Expensive) are working fine for me.

I can see that this bug is marked as a duplicate, can someone please point to the live bug report so that we can follow it?
[13 Oct 2017 13:06] Ben Ernest-Jones
Per Miguel's comment on 26 Sep, this is now a duplicate of https://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=87862
[13 Oct 2017 13:12] Ben Ernest-Jones
And actually, that one was marked as a duplicate of https://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=87714 which offers a pre-release patched build, and indicates the official patch will be in the upcoming 6.3.10 release.

Experiencing it on macOS: 10.13.1
MySQLWorkbench: 6.3.9
Server: Mysql 5.5.54-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 accessed through SSH

After running the first query (without being able to see the results) basically the whole gui operation is degraded

I was experiencing this same problem. I just installed Workbench 6.3.10 and it is working now. I'm running High Sierra 10.13.1

Affects me, Running 10.13.2 as of yesterday. Reverted to 6.1.7 after seeing suggestions here, which works but is not ideal.

I'm still having issues while trying to run 6.3.10 on High Sierra, but notice this fixed for others. Anything I'm missing or others like me out there?
