Description:
Crash notification popped up, reporting attempt to access protected memory, when creating a local connection for Server Administrator. Back/Next/Cancel buttons then disable, but pressing the ... file select button re-enables them.

The dialogue is also shockingly bad, giving me no indication of what I'm actually looking for (other than some kind of config file) or what to do in order to get past this stage.

How to repeat:
Above.

In case of the same crash, please, right click somewhere in the error dialog box with no text and use Copy stack trace to clipboard context menu item. Send the stack trace to this bug report.

Please, check if creating a Windows service for MySQL server will help to workaround this bug in your case.

Yes, that does allow a connection to be set up without a crash occurring.
