Description:
Computer: Windows 7 Professional 64bit
-using xampp running apache 2.2.14 and mysql 5.1.41

-Get errors everytime I try to create a server instance using localhost.

-No errors occur during remote server instance creation.

How to repeat:
When trying to create a server instance for localhost, the "testing the database connection" page reports everything is okay and out puts the following:

Connecting to MySQL server localhost...

Connected.

MySQL server version is 5.1.41

MySQL server architecture is ia32

MySQL server OS is Win32

When clicking next to the "Set Windows configuration parameters for this machine" page, i get an error stating the following:

"MySQL Workbench has encounteres a problem: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt."

Anything path I enter for the configuration file results in the same error.

This process has worked perfectly on another machine and the only difference between them is that the other is running the 32 bit version of the same operating system.

Do you have a Windows service created for your MySQL server?

Reinstalled xampp which let me install mysql as a service. Works perfectly now. Thanks.
