Description:
I installed MySQL Administrator 1.2.3 rc onto existing previous version so that I have all previous connections stored. Everything was working fine in the previous version regardless if connection was to localhost, to a computer in LAN or through SSH tunnel somewhere else.

But with the 1.2.3 rc the program crashes after clicking OK to connect to a server. Newly created connections do not work either. I see a standard Windows' window of bug reporting with title "Administrator for MySQL Servers".

The report says:
AppName: mysqladministrator.exe
AppVer: 1.2.3.0
ModName: libmysqladmin.dll
ModVer: 0.0.0.0
Offset: 000013d8

What I can add that MySQL Query Browser 1.2.3 beta that shares the same connections base connects fine.

How to repeat:
If you have configuration as in the description, just try to connect to any server.

What exact version of MySQL server are you connecting to? Do you have any Service Packs/antivirus software installed.

As a side note: I've just connected to 5.0.22-nt with same version of MySQL Administrator on my XP Home Edition without any problems.

Author of this topic is right; it's impossible to work with Administrator ver. 1.2.3 rc at all. Verified on these Windows XP Pro SP2 systems:

Client: Intel Centrino 2GHz notebook with 1Gb RAM
Server: same as client, MySQL 5.0.24

Client: Athlon 64 3000+ with 1Gb of RAM
Server1: same as client, MySQL 4.1.21
Server2: PIII-1000 with 256Mb of RAM, Windows 2000, MySQL 5.0.22

Like author I use non-install version, overwriting existing GUI tools RC1. After downgrade everything works fine.

I am glad ;) that it is not only me who experience this bug, because I do not have access to that computer with Windows XP any more and can report further details only from my memory.

I tried with servers - MySQL 5.? and MySQL 3.? (in the latter case I got an information window of course discouraging from using MA with it, but after clicking "Ignore" it was crashing the same way as with version 5). I do not know if there were service packs, but know that mine was Windows XP Home Edition. And there was some less-known free antivirus software installed. That is what I can recall.

I have just notice this bug can be merged with less-descriptive http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=22380

There is definetly something going on here. Please see my remarks in BUG#22302.
I would have set this report to "Verified" but everything just started to work on it's own... Valeriy?

I used Windows Installer Package of mysql-gui-tools-5.0-r3-win32. All worked (and still works) OK on my XP Home Edition.

I know nothing about MSI-install version of Administrator, there are problems with Zip version and author mentioned that.

I am having the same problem with the no-installer version.

Tested first with MySQL-5.1.11-beta and it worked. With 5.0.24 it crashes right after asking the connection parameters.

Currently running mysqld-max-nt as a service.
