Description:
There are more than 2700 lines in the .gitignore file, most of them related to in-source compilation:

[edahl@siv11 mysql-trunk]$ wc .gitignore
 2724 2732 75036 .gitignore

This is confusing and creates problems for adding legitimate file names to the repo.

How to repeat:
Inspect .gitignore

Suggested fix:
Clean up the file, leaving only editor-related stuff.

Also make cmake bail out if we do in-source builds.

Fixed in 8.0.14.

The contents of the .gitignore file has been cleaned up. Much of this
file was inherited from its .bzrignore predecessor and was not
relevant. One implication of this cleanup is that in-source builds
are disallowed.
