I found a work around of sorts. Install "MySQL Server 5.7.21" but deselect Product Feature "Server data files" It appears everything else installs correctly except for the Server data Files.

The action 'Install' for product 'MySQL Server 8.0.15' failed. Same thing as others on this thread. I have spent most of the day with this, and am very frustrated. I have wasted most of the day trying to get this resolved. I would have thought that by April 2020 that this bug would have been figured out, and at least had better message on install fail. I dont understand this fucking error log and no specific details on error.

Same issue here trying to install on a fresh Windows 10 Pro, how is this still happening in 2021?
