Description:
Hi,

Workbench becomes to me a tool that i use almost every days, and i think that everyone have to recognize that is becomming better and better every single build released.

As much of that final work is a result of this dicussions on this forums, i feel that i can contribute a little bit suggesting a new functionality, that concists only on slitt out the script tabs from the main application window.

i'm using two monitors on my dev machine and i wonder to have the possibility to put in one side the application window, and on the other monitor the script tab, by this way i can be scripting and viewing the results at the same time (for example) or administrating my schema at the same time.

i'm sure that it will help to improve my productivity.

How to repeat:
Feature sugestion

Hi Flavio,
the script tab is a separate window, so you can drag it independently from the main window ... i think i'm missing something in your explanation, please elaborate.
thanks in advance

Hi,

i'm using the 5.2.29 version on windows 7 ultimate and when i click on the tab and grad it to out of the main window application, it just doesnt work, nothing happens.

my sugestion is to have on this application the possibility to get new windows out of the main window application, some thing like this:

i've two monitors and on M1 i maximize the wb application, but because i've to look for a several scriptfiles, what if i can click on a script tab and drag this to second monitor, in my expected behaviour, i should get a new window that i can maximize on second monitor.

Or for example other great possibility is to have the same behavior to the query result tab, my point here is while on monitor 1 i'm building a query, i see the query results on the second monitor.

Other interesting related feature on this context could be some like that when i drag a table (from the tree of object browser) to out of the main window application i could get a new window with a "Select top 1000" script that i can run immediatly.

Actually i use two applications that allows me to work with that kind of multi-monitor support, one is the Microsoft VS 2010 that i just have to drag the tab and i get a separate window with that code file. The other could be for example Adobe Photoshop that i simply can drag my window to second monitor

if is actually suposed to have this functionality, i just dont know how to activate it and use it.

thanks in advance for the interest

so this is basically about making the tabbed components (like e.g. admin-, query- or even editor-tabs) detachable from main window

Please make this feature happen

Created an account just to say, I wish this existed by now. I would definitely benefit from this feature.

This would be a huge boon to my workflow. If RStudio and even (gasp) Excel let me spread out my work across multiple screens, the Workbench should as well.

I also just want to add my vote for this please even if I am 6 years late.

Seven years after... i vote for this feature.
Having diagram on one screen would be very cool.
