Description:
I am running Win XP service patch 2 and just downloaded MySql workbench (5.1.18 OSS
Revision 4456). trying to add a table results in the error message
db.mysql.editors.wbp.fe.dll:DbMysqlTableEditor

I downloaded the suggest dll that was mentioned in this email thread, reset my PC and
still have the same issue.

Any suggestions?

How to repeat:
Try to add a new table

Robert, could you try with latest release (5.2.19) to see if the problem is gone now?
thanks in advance

Johannes Taxacher

As per your request I uninstalled the previous version of Workbench, downloaded Beta version 5.2.19 and checked to see if the previous error message was still present.

Upon opening the tool and requesting a new ER Model I double clicked on Add a table and received an Exception screen. the new screen does not provide any real debug information so I can't tell you anything more than the fact the Beta version as issues add in new table as does the GA version.

From where did you download the packages and how did you install them?
[30 Apr 2010 14:16] Robert Bartis
Your web site and running the downloaded package.

I am still unable to make use of the tool, either the GA or Beta version. Do you have any suggestions?
[4 May 2010 13:20] Robert Bartis
I just de-installed workbench on my PC and downloaded the Beta version (mysql-workbench-oss-5.2.20-beta-win32.msi) this morning. After installation I can make a service instance, connect, but can not edit, create or view any tables without the error noted originally showing up.

Any update on status or prospects for a fix?
[12 May 2010 15:32] Valeriy Kravchuk
Please, check with a newer version, 5.2.21, and inform about the results.
[12 May 2010 18:07] Robert Bartis
Uninstalled the previous version and installed 5.2.21 as requested. this is now the 4th time I have blindly uninstalled a previous version to "see if" the new version fixes the issue. It may be time to move away from the shot-in-the-dark approach to bug fixing and actually have someone look into the problem.

As no one seems to be able to repeat this, it must be something different in your system.

What language is the OS? English? Do you have an anti-virus installed? What exactly is the path to the
db.mysql.editors.wbp.fe.dll file? What size is it? Do you have the Scintilla editor installed somewhere?
Or another copy of Workbench in a different directory? Do you have the .NET Framework installed?
Can you think of anything that is unusual in your system?

Its been a month now and counting and there has been no action other than requests for data collection to address this issue. Given the issue completely blocks use of the MySQL DB for our use I have updated the Severity from Serious to Critical.
[5 Jun 2010 2:28] MySQL Verification Team
Could you please try version 5.2.22.Thanks in advance.
[6 Jun 2010 15:54] Robert Bartis
So let me understand exactly what you are asking me. Instead of collecting hard data and trying to understand the root cause of the failure you are asking me to try an updated version of the tool. I assume you have read the log and see this is the fourth time (5.1.18, 5.1.19 and 5.2.21) the team is asking me to try a different version. I can not imagine there is a good reason since no real data collection has taken place. Hence, unless there has been a known issue you have not told me about you are grasping at straws in the hope that something may have been changed by some developer, somewhere in the world that randomly may have addressed this problem?

This is not support, but shot-gunning a problem and praying for a solution. Far short of the way I recall MySql support being in the past. Very disappointing. Thank you, but I need a tool I can depend on. I've looked at Oracle 10g for a solution. Its tools and performance appears stable and mature and will that for my solutions going forward.

Duplicate of bug #53448
[16 Jun 2010 14:53] Robert Bartis
So what was fixed between 5.2.21 and 5.2.22 that corrected the issue?
[16 Jun 2010 15:41] Mike Lischke
Robert, there was no fix yet. We are still trying to figure out what is going on. Could you please also use the exception dialog to send us the stack trace (right click on a free place on it to get the context menu for the clipboard operation)? I'd be curios if you have the same problem. Thanks. Please add your input to the other bug, so we don't split that discussion.

I have the same problem. Any update?
[23 May 2011 2:46] bill Richardson
Disregard previous comment. I deleted the .zip download and reinstalled with a .msi download and the problem is gone.
