Description:
the 32 bit MSI installer on version 5.1.36 fails prematurly on installation.

After a .34 installation without any problems we upgraded by copying the 36 files, all workks fine.

on a testmachine we re-installed release 35 and 36 with this problem, but 34 withour any problem

There is an issue in the 35/36 MSI installer !!

How to repeat:
W3K SP2, PHP5.3 and no installation of MySQL... download essential 32 MSI installer and it fails installation

Suggested fix:
don't know where to look for the error, so no suggestion

Thank you for the problem report. At what stage installation fails?

Hi,

Executing the MSI installer on any version of release 36. After starting the installer it doesn't matter what option you choose..... in less than 10 seconds the installer bar goes to 75% and the quits with the "premature stopped" message.

I installed release 35; same problem.

installed release 34-- >no problem. After that I copied all files from release 36 (non-installer version) and restarted without any problem on version 36!

I can't repeat this on XP SP3. I've just installed http://dev.mysql.com/get/Downloads/MySQL-5.1/mysql-essential-5.1.36-win32.msi/from/pick over previous 5.1.34 without any problem. Looks like this is related to Windows 2003 maybe.

Okay, we use Server 2003 SP2; our test enviroment is up-to-date with the latest updates; our development machine is SP2 but not the latest updates. Both show the same problem.

Google around on "mysql 5.1 premature ended" shown more people having this problem.....

it could be Server 2003 releted... We do not use MySQl on XP machines.

Thank you for the feedback. It was a fresh install or an upgrade install?. Thanks in advance.

hi,

primary "install" was an upgrade vanr 5.0 to 5.1.36.... a 2nd try on a new machine was a compete new installation.

100% sure it is the MSI installer in release 5.1.35 and 36..... 34 works fine.
