Description:
Can't save a new created model -> workbench freezes (no response),
but I can edit and save migrated files from wb 5.0.x.

How to repeat:
create a new model or just a blank model and hit the 'save' or 'save as' button

Sorry, but I can not repeat this. What disk/directory are you trying to save to? Do you work as a user who is a member of (local) Administrators group?

I didn't came to the point to choose a disk/directory with 'save as' and I guess wb takes a default value like 'my files' for 'save'. Maybe there is an issue with the default value?

I operate wb as a member of (local) administrators group.

Now I see that the same happens (wb freezes) if I choose 'open..' to open a model from file, but I can open files with 'open recent'.

Btw. all other apps running well including wb 5.0.30

After I've installed the new patches MS issued this month (2009.07) for SP3 the error with 'save' and 'open' disappeared. Maybe this info might be hepful for others.

When you say MS patches, do you mean the regular windows updates? Or is there a specific patch that needs to be downloaded for this problem? I am still unable to use any version of workbench past 5.0.30 - XP SP3, I've got the latest updates installed, updated some older drivers too, and still anytime a file browser dialog tries to open, it locks up.

I love the new schema highlighting on the newer versions of workbench and wish I could use it. Any suggestions?

Yep, I meant the the regular monthly windows updates.
Did you use the latest WB version (recently 5.1.18)?
[17 Sep 2009 19:38] Chris Nanney
Yeah, 5.1.18 and the latest 5.2 alpha both lock up for me, but only when needing to open a file dialog. I don't know why my system seems to not like the new versions. Everything on my system is up to date, and I keep it pretty clean. I've almost accepted the fact that I'll just have to continue using 5.0.30 until I build my new win7 box in a few months :-/
