Description:
Downloaded mysql-5.1.23-rc-osx10.5-x86-64.dmg file.  Installation of MySQL itself was successful.  An attempt to install the MySQLStartupItem.pkg produced no installed script in the /Library/StartupItems directory, or the /System/Library/StartupItems directory.  The mysql engine can be started successfully from the shell.

How to repeat:
Tried to install the package several times.

This is a duplicate of bug#25008. (next released .dmg will likely include the correct .pkg) It will most probably also include the updated MySQL.prefPane (that works in leopard, bug#28854).
