Description:
Hi all,

I'm using Windows Vista Home Basic and tried to install mysql-5.0.51a-win32 on it. But i am unable to run mysql as a service under vista. I tried to do it using MySQLInstanceConfig.exe. But an error msg shows which says "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail". I've administrative privilage and i turned on the firewall and added port (MySQL/3306 TCP). I also tried "-mysql-nt --install" in command prompt but it says "Install/Remove of the Service Denied!".
As an alternative i tried mysql-essential-5.0.51a-win32 but same happens with that too...

Now what should i do to run mysql as a service under vista? Please Help me....

How to repeat:
Use Windows Vista Home Basic and install mysql-5.0.51a-win32

Please do not submit the same bug more than once. An existing bug report already describes this very problem. Even if you feel that your issue is somewhat different, the resolution is likely to be the same. Because of this, we hope you add your comments to the original bug instead.

Thank you for your interest in MySQL.

Explanation: Hi Sangeetha. This is a duplicate of Bug#30823 and it has already been fixed. Actually, you have described two problems here, staring the service and instance manager failure, which are both described in bugsdb so please search it.
