Description:
I have installed the MySQL server 5.0 in Windows Vista with the
essential installer (tried both mysql-essential-5.0.15-win32.msi and also mysql-essential-5.0.15-winx64.msi).

It seems to install OK but I am unable to get the wizard running. It does not start just after installation. I can not launch it from Dos prompt or windows Menu either.

Error message obtained is:

My English translation: "C:\Program Files\MySQL...\MySQLInstanceConfig.exe - Error starting application: the configuration in parallel is incorrect. Consult events registry for further details."

In perfect Spanish: "C:\Program Files\MySQL...\MySQLInstanceConfig.exe - Error al iniciar la< aplicación; la configuración en paralelo no es correcta. . Consulte el registro de eventos para obtener más detalles."

So, my doubts:

- Which package should I use for my platform (for Windows Vista, I am assuming x64, but tried first with win32)
- What's wrong with my installation
- What events registry does this refer to?

Thank you in advance. Best regards,

Pedro

How to repeat:
Just launching Config wizard

Please do not submit the same bug more than once. An existing bug report already describes this very problem. Even if you feel that your issue is somewhat different, the resolution is likely
to be the same. Because of this, we hope you add your comments to the original bug instead.

Thank you for your interest in MySQL.

Explanation: Pedro, this is a duplicate of Bug#30823 for which patch is already pending.

Hi Pedro. I have been informed there is currently no ETA for the next community release after the 5.0.51a that went out not that long ago. I guess you will have to watch and wait, or pick up support contract allowing for custom builds.
