Description:
similar to bug # 28659
http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=28659

Select expanded query area, then select File -> Quit 
Open query browser again, close it by clicking on the X (top right corner)
Open query browser again and if you keep opening and closing using the X button, you will be able to keep the "Selected query area mode"

If you use the File -> quit menu option it will not save the selected view after 2 
open/close actions.
