Description:
I created a user & machine dsn in MS Access to link to a database in MySQL. This worked but when i tried the connection with a File DSN it brought up an error message saying "A connection could not be made using the file data source paraneters entered. Save non-verified file dsn?". If i save it, it doesn't work. I can't see any parameters or options that i can change so what am i doing wrong?

How to repeat:
Select new File DSN from data source admin abd follow steps to completion. Should give error msg as stated in the above description.

Hi Ahmad and thanks for your problem report. I was able to verify it as described.

It works with an older version of mysql odbc version 3.51.06. You can download at the following url:

I could reproduce it by using MyODBC 5.1.

This functionality is planned for a post-5.1 release.

Bug#33929 was marked as a duplicate of this.

There are cases where using FileDSN only works so reassigning to Lawrin.

Has this been solved?  Hitting my head against a wall here.

Support for file DSN has been added in Connector/ODBC 5.3.2, and the new feature is noted in the release's changelog.
