Not enough information was provided for us to be able to handle this bug. Please re-read the instructions at http://bugs.mysql.com/how-to-report.php If you can provide more information, feel free to add it to this bug and change the status back to 'Open'. Thank you for your interest in MySQL. Additional info: I was unable to repeat the behavior reported on 2 boxes XP Pro and Home Edition.

from MSDN Error Message: (Application Error) The application failed to initialize properly (0xaddress ). Click on OK to terminate the application. User Action: This is a Windows 2000 Executive STATUS error message. After you terminate the application, try running it again. If this message reappears, contact the supplier of the application. So i did. There was no other output for me to send to you. I do not have any windows dev tools (therefore know nothing of MS error messages) and a google on the error msg is inconclusive. I cant help you further it would seem trying to beta test just gets a cold shoulder.

I'm having the same issue. If I try to start the application I'm getting the same error as described above. OS: Win2k SP3 Memory: 512MB Looks, like this is related to Win2k alone. Sorry, but I can't give more info so far.

Sorry, I've meant Win2k SP4, not SP3. Uhm, can anyone repeat this under Win2k?

I just downloaded mysql-workbench-noinstall-1.0.1a-alpha-win32.zip I run Win2k SP4 with 320 MB and an Athlon 1.2. When I try to run MySQLWorkbench.exe I get "The application failed to initialize properly (0x000001d). Click OK to terminate the application.

I've encountered a similar problem. Whenever I click on any tools I get an error message which says Access Violation @ address 0053B820 in module 'MySQLWorkbench.exe'. Read of address 0000001C. Im running MySQL Workbench version 1.0.2 under this system: Windows XP Pro SP2 Pentium 4 - 2.8 GHz 1.5 GB Ram I can recreate the error every time I open the program and pick on a tool. Once the error shows up, I am unable to modify the existing schema or relationships of the tables present.

Dave, do you have zlib1 and zlib DLLs in your WB bin folder? I have seen such a problem like you have described because of conflicting zlibs. An application had set an additional system search path which also had a zlib dll in it that was from then on used but incompatible with our libs. By placing a copy of zlib and zlib1 in the same folder as the WB application (unfortunately we need both because they are accessed by other third-party libs) this problem could be avoided. Mike

Ah, ok, from looking at your listing I see you have those dlls there. Hmm, then I'm clueless about what could be the reason for the startup problem. Sorry. Mike

Fresh install of Win2K Server SP4, fully patched. Unzipped archive to I:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Workbench 1.0\. Running as user with full Admin rights. Application fails to initialise as previously described. Setting bug status to Verified.

Just tested on 1.0.5 and still get application failed to initialize properly as before.

There is a known problem if the Workbench is not installed into the default folder (e.g. C:\Program files\...). Please try this installation location and let me know if that works for you now.
[7 Mar 2006 22:41]
Dave Caroline
Tried in C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Workbench 1.0 as requested, it still fails as before.

And took default install path as installer offered, C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Workbench If you want more info, let me know what you want.

Same problem on Windows XP SP2. Just tryed 1.0 (install and without install versions). When the application launches, before anything load, comes the error: (0xc000001d)

23 July 2006 I downloaded and installed today on Windows XP and get the Failed to start (01d) error. Is there a fix yet or can I download an earlier version of workbench
[15 Aug 2006 12:10]
Olivier Gérardin
I have the same symtom. From reading other reports on the same error code, I suspect that the problem is linked to the CPU family. It is possible that the Workbench was compiled specifically for Intel CPUs and will not run on Athlon family CPUs. Could you confirm that all people who experienced this problem were running on an Athlon family CPU?
[15 Aug 2006 12:40]
Glenn Smith
I tested it on a Intel Pentium 3.

So my idea was wrong :( Was worth a try.
