Description:
Since new innovation releases starting from MySQL 8.1, MySQL Workbench is showing errors that the server being incompatible/nonstandard. On version 8.4.0, the Workbench experience seems pretty unstable. I guess not all features of the newer LTS server are ported/tested in latest Workbench.

How to repeat:
1. Install the latest MySQL Server 8.4.0 LTS package.

2. Install the Latest MySQL Workbench 8.0.36

3. Try making connection a connection with the server. An error dialog is shown the server being incompatible.

4. If you continue anyway, you may experience random crashes, as well as many of the server properties like locations of the my.cnf file would be shown unknown.

Suggested fix:
Newer features are needed to be adapted in latest Workbench versions.

Is there any chance that this could be fixed/released? 8.1 was release 18 months ago. There was a PR to address the issue (https://github.com/mysql/mysql-workbench/pull/45) but it was closed (for legal reasons)

While it works some features breaks/are unavailable even though they could work just fine…
