Description:
I was updating MySQL 8.0.15 because it wasn't showing up in my Visual Studio 2022. I then tried updating my Connector/NET and that spiraled out of control of me not being able to uninstall or reinstall the connector.

After about 5 hour of searching and debugging, I finally found the culprit from an article in the below url. It appears that I had to find and remove a Registry entry.

https://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=101060

Finally got that resolved, and uninstalled all of MySQL 8.0.15, and left the data folder. During the install of the update 8.0.33.1, I added all of the components I wanted and tried to install, it installs fine, accept that it gave an error again with the new Connect/8.0 ODBC or some error happened, and I didn't investigate that error yet.

Moving on, I get to the point where I pick my password schema, and I chose to use the Legacy method because that is what I had last time. Then it asks me for the password, I have put it in 100 times by now. I even copied and pasted it from my Configuration files for my WebAPIs and WCF Services. I keep getting an error saying it's the wrong password. I can't get beyond this point so I can't get MySQL up and going, and therefore I can't change the password.

How to repeat:
Read the description.

Sorry I made a mistake. It wasn't 8.0.33.1, it was 8.0.36. It's the last version of the series. Use the following MSI : mysql-installer-community-8.0.36.0.msi

MySQL Support. Thank you for the comment, but I found what the real problem is this past weekend. I was on 8.0.15 and was going to 8.0.36 is when I was getting this error. I then attempted 8.022 and got the same error, couldn't validate my password during the update. I wiped it all clean and did a fresh install of 8.0.36, but I then started having problem with EntityFramework and Reverse PACCO in my project. It was also no longer showing table structures, etc. It was a nice feature to have actually. Anyhow, I down graded to 8.0.22 and used the password that worked. Still had problem with EntityFramework and downgraded again to 8.0.15 at this point when I put in my password I got "Invalid Password Error". So somewhere between 8.0.15 and 8.0.22 MySQL changed the algorithm, secret keys for encrypting passwords, or simply changed how it processes the password. That is the only thing that makes sense is that MySQL updated something with password process. To be clear, when downgrading that was not a fresh install.

I can't be getting an error during the upgrade, that is just unacceptable.
