Description:
This is virtually identical to bug #3668 reported in May of 2004, and fixed in 3.51.08.

My installarion is Windows XP SP2. It is running MDAC 2.8 sp1. I installed MySQL 4.1 and all seems fine. When I connect to the server, I get an error message that my ODBC client needs to be updated. I download the connector which is currently 3.51.11. Regardless of whether I install with the MSI or EXE file I get the message "Internal Error 2727 INSTALLDIR" and the installation dies.

I tried this on two different machines (though both are running XP SP2). Same problem.

How to repeat:
1) Install 4.1 - the current GA release
2) Try to install the ODBC client

I was unable to repeat this issue, removing 3.51.06 and then
installing 3.51.11. I attached a picture showing 4.1.12 server
and creating an DSN with Connector/ODBC on XP SP2.

Thank you Miguel. I am not sure why the problem persists on the 1st PC, but I suspect it is an old copy of the MDAC. But on the 2nd PC I did as you suggested and removed old versions of teh connector first. ANd now it installs properly.

Sorry for the inconvenience.
