I'm on windows, v 8.0.32 build 2612062 CE, and this same bug is happening to me.

clicking connect on the home page opens up a window that just says "Parameter is not valid", and to report the bug here.  i open up the settings for this connection, and click "test connection", and it works.  no idea what caused this, since i haven't changed anything about the connection settings, and i didn't update this software afaik.

also, one of my coworkers is on the same build, same laptop, but doesn't have this issue, so i'm not sure what the problem is.  let me know if there's any diagnostic logs i can pull up to try and narrow down the issue.

also, likely related, on startup, i get a popup that a "search_sidebar.png" image could not be loaded

Imho this is duplicate of Bug #99285, please see Bug #99285 and follow the suggested fix.
