Thanks for reporting. Could you check the Server version you installed? If it was 4.1.8 it is very likely that you suffer from the incorrect-environment-path problem this version had. Please see http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=7710 for details. It was fixed in 4.1.9. Could you verify if correcting the path and installing 4.1.9 helps to get your system back to normal? Thanks a lot.
