Description:
Installed 4.1.8 on w2003. Afterwards the path had "C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 4.1\bin" appended to it. This breaks the path. The only directory searched is the mysql bin directory, nothing else, so ping and everything in system32 is not found anymore.

How to repeat:
Change your path between the two.

Suggested fix:
Removing "C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 4.1\bin" from the path and replacing it with "C:Progra~1\MYSQL\MySQLS~1.1\bin" seems to fix it.

I was able to install in W2003 without any problem.
