Description:
The spec file for MySQL-shared-compat RPM package seems to still obsolete MySQL-shared. This should not be the case after 5.5.6 when MySQL-shared-compat was supposed to discontinue including the MySQL-shared libraries.

How to repeat:
yum install MySQL-shared

gives:

Setting up Install Process
Package MySQL-shared is obsoleted by MySQL-shared-compat, trying to install MySQL-shared-compat-5.5.11-1.rhel5.x86_64 instead

Suggested fix:
remove the relevant "obsoletes" from MySQL-shared-compat spec file

Are you tried the latest package from our download page?.

I just tried the 5.5.15-1.rhel5.i386.rpm packages from the mirror at mirror.anl.gov. Same results.

I can't find the MySQL-shared-compat-5.5.15-1.rhel5.spec file.

Does that spec file have an obsoletes clause for MySQL-shared?
