Hi! I was unable to reproduce this bug: jorge-/home/jorge> mysqldump --add-drop-table test a -- MySQL dump 10.9 -- -- Host: localhost Database: test -- ------------------------------------------------------ -- Server version 4.1.11

your mysqldump version differs from the one used. later versions don't seem to produce the error. when importing the produced file with the mysql client program, e.g. mysql tablename -h localhost --user=xxx --password=xxx < mysqldump.sql, no error occures, because the client cuts of all lines that start with "--". therefore the incorrect comment doesn't cause any trouble here.

I'm having the same problem [no "--" after "www_mysite_net"; erasing that line seems to solve the problem]: Error SQL query: -- MySQL dump 8.23 -- -- Host: localhost Database: www_mysite_net ------------------------------------------------------- -- -- Server version 4.1.14-standard -- -- Table structure for table `broadcast_news` -- DROP TABLE IF EXISTS broadcast_news; MySQL said: Documentation #1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '--------------------------------------------------------- -- Server version 4.1' at line 1
