How to repeat:
Open 2 tabs
Run a query in tab 1 (that takes a while to load)
During the query load, close tab 2
The system always results in a crash. This bug has been in workbench for years and is quite annoying.

Suggested fix:
Workaround: Dont close tabs whenever you run a query
