Thank you everybody for your help it gives courage finally the problem was, or still is, my pc is connected to a linux server, i am end user win XP, and apparently windows create 2 profiles, so the problem was that i might have install te mysqlodbc under one profile, and use the database through the other one... How did i get to this solution, well, i squat the pc of a collegue and start from scratch, and carrefully done everything on the same profile and it works best regards William
