Description:
Greetings,

I've been seeing consistently bad read performance from MySQL on Mac OS X
machines as compared to less powerful Intel counterparts....my Pentium M 1.5
Ghz laptop rountinely outperforms a 1.8 GHz G5 desktop computer, when the
desktop is more powerful, has a faster disk, etc etc. The difference is sufficiently
great that I only develop on OS X, I can't run mysql on the production OS X boxes,
which is a royal pain. Any ideas on why this gap in performance should be so
pronounced?

How to repeat:

Run MySQL on OS X. Observe slowness.
