Description:
MySQL Workbench 8.0.19 is not starting. Uninstalled and returned back to 8.0.18. Tried restart, clearing all the cache. The app simple start and the process is ended in a second. (Win10 64bit)

I also renamed folder \AppData\Roaming\MySQL and tried to start app, and nothing. It is automatically stopped without no message. Also no log files has been created in \AppData\Roaming\MySQL\Workbench\log\wb.log

How to repeat:
Install 8.0.19 and try to launch it.

Same here. This is a highly critical issue. Impossible to start the app on windows 10 home.
8.0.18 working fine
8.0.19 after upgrade not starting
Please look at this urgently

where to find the 8.0.18 installer ? I can only find .19 on the download page.
The only workaround for now is probably to uninstall .19 and re-install .18
[13 Jan 2020 23:36] Romain Riche
and I should add:
1) no logs generated in %AppData%\MySQL\Workbench\log
2) nothing in the process explorer

I ending up using this site for the 8.0.18 installer: https://www.download3k.com/Install-MySQL-Workbench.html
[13 Jan 2020 23:54] Romain Riche
actually just found the official archive download here:
https://downloads.mysql.com/archives/workbench/

now back on .18 and all working fine... just like before

Same here, I am using Windows 10 64bit (I can see from the task manager that the program exits after 1 second).
Please find a solution as soon as possible since I cannot downgrade to 8.0.18
[14 Jan 2020 20:18] Martin Durec
Why you closed this bug, as it is really critical???
[14 Jan 2020 20:20] Martin Durec
@Gino Cappelli you can downgrade by uninstalling 8.0.19 and then install again 8.0.18. It will work. It is really shame, nobody handling so big issue.

Windows 7 x64. Same issue. I see the following message in the Windows Event viewer (translated from Russian):

Application: MySQLWorkbench.exe
Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description. The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception
Exception Info: System.IO.FileNotFoundException
   в MySQL.GUI.Workbench.Program.Main(System.String[])
[15 Jan 2020 8:18] Max Russkikh
My issue has been resolved after installation of the latest VC_redist.
[15 Jan 2020 16:32] Gino Cappelli
I can confirm what @Максим Русских has said. After upgrading to the latest Visual C++ redistributable, MySQL Workbench is now working properly.
[15 Jan 2020 17:00] Scott Weigand
As others have said, downloading/installing the latest from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads fixed the issue.
[16 Jan 2020 4:58] Erik Sundberg
I was running 8.0.15 and upgraded to 8.0.19. Afterwards I was not able to launch workbench. After upgrading to the latest Visual C++ redistributable, MySQL Workbench is now working properly.

Windows 10 64-Bit

Same issue. Cannot start MySQL Workbench after upgrading from 8.0.18 to 8.0.19.
Tried re-installing several times.
Had to finally uninstall and return to 8.0.18
[16 Jan 2020 14:58] Martin Durec
The solution is really working, simply do this. Its a shame, there is no error message from MySQL Workbench about this error.

Solution: install the latest https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads to fix the issue.
[17 Jan 2020 8:03] Mike Lischke
The problem is: without the correct runtime the application cannot even start to check and print an error message.

The Windows installer however should warn you and guide you to the VC++ runtime download location.

I install vcredist_x64.exe (https://download.visualstudio.microsoft.com/download/pr/10912045/bc33faecfaa71bb617b9bed7c...) and reboot and running ok now.

My WB 8.0.19 installation stopped to work from one second to the next. I reinstalled VC runtime, reinstalled WB to 8.0.21, but nothing helped.

I am facing same issue on version 8.0.23. I have tried all suggested solutions but no luck. As per the all comments, 8.0.18 is a stable version.
