Description:
Server CE 8.0.17
Installer 1.4.31

Server and Installer work fine. All other aspects of Notifier seem to be working correctly as well. However either manually selected Check for Community Updates, or letting it run automatically every xxx days, caused the "Software Update Error launching the process that calls the MySQL Installer API to check for updates" notification. Note that the informational notification ("We are checking...") seems fine.

This process worked fine prior to the latest update.

How to repeat:
Select Check for Community Updates, or let automatic check run.

Hello David,

Thank you for the report.
Observed this on Win10 with Notifier 1.1.8.

David,
I want to double check the MySQL Installer version being used. You included in the bug report that you are using version 1.4.31, but Server 8.0.17 is bundled with Installer 1.4.30. Did you update Installer to 1.4.31?

Notifier 1.1.7 was not having any problem, but it was not detecting any updates either (check for updates was broken). Notifier 1.1.8 needs Installer 1.4.31 or later to work. If this is your case, can you check the Notifier error log to see if there is any indication for this error and attach the log or an excerpt from it in this bug report?

Thank you.

I did upgrade as per installer "recommendations".

notifier log:

MySqlNotifier Error: 50 : Could not load file or assembly 'MySQL.Utility, Version=8.18.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71a17e6bdece54c2' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)
