Description:
Running on opensuse tumbleweed and i3. Used to work prior to minor update in version.

$ mysql-workbench
Workbench can't find libproj.so, some options may be unavailable.

(mysql-workbench-bin:27113): Gtk-WARNING **: 16:59:56.531: Theme parsing error: gtk.css:21:4: Junk at end of value for padding
Ready.

(mysql-workbench-bin:27113): glibmm-ERROR **: 17:00:20.410:
unhandled exception (type std::exception) in signal handler:
what: error calling Python module function WbAdmin.autoDetectLocalInstance

How to repeat:
Just add a local connection and see it failed.

At first, I thought this was because I am tunneling the connection through via .ssh/config (priv key on yubikey, would not be able to use the feature in the app anyways). But tried with a regular localhost, fails as well.
