Description:
User Administration - New User command always reports exception "Error while storing the user information", although the data seems to be stored fine.

How to repeat:
Select User Administration tab; click New User button; enter new username / password and click OK.

Suggested fix:
Either don't display an exception box if there are no errors; or provide the reason why something fails, never just "cannnot ...". This doesn't help the user.

Forgot to mention; this happens with server version 5.0.3. beta.

Also noticed that changing user privileges with Administrator does not save changed privileges. Furthermore the EXECUTE privilege is missing from the list of privileges that can be changed with Administrator.

This also happens with server 4.1.11. It seems that Administrator is unable to perform any User Administration without reporting "Error while storing user information". The only result after this message is that a new user is created but without any privileges and privileges cannot be changed.

Have exaclty the same problem like Bill. After switching back to 4.1.10a everything works fine again.

This same issue is being discussed in #9648.
http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=9648

So far there has been a fix reported for Server 5.0.3 but none for the 4.1.11.

I agree with Roman Widmer. I also switched from 4.1.11 to 4.1.10 and everything is working correctly.

Just mentioning that this bug still exist using Server 4.1.11-nt and Administrator 1.0.20. Annoying to have to go back to the command line to admin users!!

Additional info:

Please update all tables to utf8 (e.g. utf8_general_ci). The problem with EXECUTE (and other privs) in 5.x is also fixed.
