Step 4 in the introduction is poorly worded. The file doesn't need to be hidden... the workbook must be hidden via Excel's "hide workbook" function and already saved in that state.

Hello Tom Renish, Thank you for the bug report. I tried to reproduce the issue at my end using MS Excel 2016, MySQL for Excel 1.3.7 but not seeing any issues. Well I'm at something of a loss. Last Friday I couldn't avoid the crashing behavior, but today I can't replicate it. If there's something I did that corrected the behavior, I don't know what it could be.
