I am have same error. It happens even with just open and close workbench, without doing anything else. Also, any change in Preferences is also not saving. I am using Workbench 6.3 CE with Windows 10.

Further findings (may or may not be related to subject): In Preferences, if I change MYSQL session timing and Safe Mode check box and than reopen Preference, It will show only session timing change (all three text boxes). But not the Safe Mode check box is still the same. This time I changed Safe Mode again. Upon reopening the Preferences, there is Safe mode change with previous change of session timing. But this change only last till Workbench restart. When workbench closes, it shows the same Unexpected Error dialog and preferences are reset when workbench opens next time.
