it is mentionned that
'Currently, MySQL UTF8 support does not include four-byte sequences'

The fact is, utf8 can have up to 6 bytes sequences (see rfc2279) to support all unicode chars of iso 10646.

documentation. The updated documentation will appear on our website
shortly, and will be included in the next release of the relevant
