Description:
I was attempting to reverse engineer my database into a MySQL Workbench Model. Upon filtering tables, I get the generic "MySQL Workbench has encountered a problem" error.

If I choose to continue without filtering, an error with the following message pops up:

"error compiling regex this version of PCRE is compiled without UTF support"

How to repeat:
1. Create/open a MySQL Workbench Model
2. Create a diagram
3. In the top option menu, click "Database", then "Reverse engineer..."
4. Go through the process as usual until you have to select tables to reverse engineer
5. Try to filter them or to continue
6. Error message pops up.
