Description:
When connecting to incompatible/nonstandard server (MariaDB 10.1.18 in this case) you will see a popup warning about that fact:

> Connection Warning (mariadb)
>
> Incompatible/nonstandard server version or connection protocol detected
> (10.1.18).
>
> A connection to this database can be established but some MySQL
> Workbench features may not work properly since the database is not fully
> compatible with the supported versions of MySQL.
>
> MySQL Workbench is developed and tested for MySQL Server versions 5.1,
> 5.5, 5.6 and 5.7

The popup has two buttons "Continue anyway" and "Cancel".

While the information is correct the popup is annoying as well.

How to repeat:
Connect to incompatible/nonstandard server, for example recent MariaDB.

Suggested fix:
Keep the popup, but add an additional option to suppress the popup for subsequent connects. IMHO a checkbox would fit perfectly:

[ ] Do not show incompatible/nonstandard server version warning again for this connection.

Hi. I was wondering if there was any update on this. In which version will this be introduced? Thanks.

two years later and no progress?
I suspect the sole reason for the annoying popup is to increase sales of the commercial product.
