Description:
The latest community Connector/C release is 6.1.6 ([1]):
http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/c/
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/relnotes/mysql/5.7/en/news-5-7-6.html

Comparing the source release [2] with that in mysql-server [3] shows that Connector/C, appears to be based on something halfway between the mysql 5.7.5 and 5.7.6 releases [4].

This means that it's missing a number of fixes that landed in 5.7.6-5.7.14, most relevant for me, are the TLS improvements, eg:
https://github.com/mysql/mysql-server/commit/e7620603673192edb4b56a599d98f6c413148bd6
...which affect eg bug 82383.

Please can a newer community Connector/C release be created, that is based on a newer version of mysql 5.7?

Many thanks!

Ed

[1] The 6.1.7 and 6.1.8 releases were not available in the community edition, since they were apparently only fixing issues with OpenSSL, which the community edition doesn't use.

[4] For example it includes https://github.com/mysql/mysql-server/commit/abe948ffaa40eb1a3c5e1469c3717d29503f6488 from 5.7.5, but not https://github.com/mysql/mysql-server/commit/5a06270fcf900769b9ff2290cd1bb742cd94e370 from 5.7.6.

Do you have an estimate when the next Connector/C release might be?

Thanks :-)
