Description:
Fresh install of MY SQL Workbench on a fresh install of OSX is crashing with almost every query that is run. I have tried the connection using an SSL Tunnel and without the SSL Tunnel and it makes no difference. Have attempted to delete and recreate the connection and run the query from a new tab, close all tabs and create a new tab but nothing makes a difference. Marked this as critical is there is no workaround for this system at this time.

Server being connected to is version 5.7.12 running on Debian 8.

How to repeat:
Just running a query is enough for this combination to cause a crash.

For SSL tunnel please read SSH tunnel. Should not file bug reports before the first coffee of the morning :(

Downgraded this installation to version 6.2.5.0 build 397 and I can execute queries without any issues. This is using a direct connection to the DB.

Downgraded to serious as the switch to the lower version can be considered a work around.

Raised to critical as the bug has re-appeared and only a downgrade, which impacts the ability to modify DDL which is using JSON structures. Software is not currently usable.

Fresh install of El Capitan with TunnelBlick/OpenSSL and MySQL Workbench is displaying exactly the same issue. This is obviously a very serious bug in this version of MySQL Workbench. Log file is attached.
