To repeat it: make sure the "new style" audit log plugin is used, so install it via the audit_log_filter_linux_install.sql first.

Posted by developer: Noted in 5.7.17, 8.0.1 changelogs. Infinite recursion could occur if the audit_log plugin signalled an error while handling an error.
