Description:
Hi,

I was using MySQL server & it's utilities a few years ago (till ~2013). Since then I didn't take care about it.
Now I need to get back to MySQL server. I'd like to use MySQL with Microsoft Access 2007, which is 32bit application.

But there seems to be a problem with ODBC connector since none of my original user DSNs are working. I was getting the following error message when I was trying to update the DSNs via C:\Windows\System32\odbcad32.exe (Google Translator):
"Can not find routines for setting up an ODBC driver MySQL ODBC 5.1 Driver. Install the driver again."
"The specified DSN does not match the driver architecture and application architecture."

I reinstalled the driver many, many times. I also tried higher versions of the driver but it didn't help. Last attempt was 5.1.0 alpha version of the driver, but it didn't help either.

I've been googling the web but I was not able to find a solution. I'd like to completely uninstall current MySQL stuff, but I cannot find MySQL server in a list of installed programs. The only item I can see is MySQL Connector/ODBC 5.1 (MySQL AB, 5.1.0 alpha). There's no other MySQL item it the list.
I can run MySQL Workbench 5.2.29 CE which was prevously installed on my notebook. I can't find MySQL program group in Programs, All programs.

There's a MySQL7 item TaskManager, Services, but it's status is Stopped, Not available.

How to repeat:
Reinstall the driver.

Suggested fix:
1. Complete uninstall of MySQL stuff.
2. Install latest version of MySQL server & the driver & utilities.

Hello Vladimír Cvajniga,

Thank you for the bug report.
Could you please try with latest version of MySQL Connector / ODBC 5.3.6 version.
Download link :
https://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/odbc/
Prerequisites to install MySQL Connector / ODBC :
https://dev.mysql.com/doc/connector-odbc/en/connector-odbc-installation-binary-windows.htm...
Make sure you have the Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable Package installed on your system.

Thanks,
Chiranjeevi.

Hello, Chiranjeevi,

thank you very much for your response.
I have downloaded & installed MS VC++ 2013 Redist, both 32bit and 64bit. Installation was successful:

Then I have:
1. uninstalled MySQL Connector/ODBC 5.1 (MySQL AB, 5.1.0 alpha)
2. installed mysql-connector-odbc-5.3.6-win32.msi
3. tried to update (Configure) one of the current User DSNs via C:\Windows\System32\odbcad32.exe; no success, same error messages
4. installed mysql-connector-odbc-5.3.6-winx64.msi
5. tried to update (Configure) one of the current User DSNs via C:\Windows\System32\odbcad32.exe; no success, same error messages

All installations run flawlessly.

Here's a partial list of what I have in my system now:
http://www.streamline.cz/download/MySQL/MySQL_Connector_03.jpg

It seems that everyting is OK at the moment, except 3. and 5. (cannot remove old DSNs).
I understand that 3. and 5. could not succeed, since there's not 5.1 version of the driver in my system now. I'm afraid I won't be able to remove the "5.1 DSNs" from the list:

Anyway, the main problem seems to be resolved. Thank you very much!

BTW, is there any utility to completely uninstall MySQL stuff from the computer?

Hello Vladimír Cvajniga,

Thank you for your feedback.
Please go through the configurations for Connector/ODBC
https://dev.mysql.com/doc/connector-odbc/en/connector-odbc-configuration-dsn-windows.html

Thanks,
Chiranjeevi.

Hello, Chiranjeevi,

I think that Administrative Tools, Data Sources (ODBC) - according to https://dev.mysql.com/doc/connector-odbc/en/connector-odbc-configuration-dsn-windows.html - is the same as C:\Windows\System32\odbcad32.exe.

Here's a short video showing the errors I get when I try to update/delete a DSN:
http://www.streamline.cz/download/MySQL/MySQL_Connector_05.mp4

I'm sorry but I have Czech language in my Windows. But I'm sure you'll understand what's going on.

Thank you very much for your time.
