Found the same behaviour. Installed server 5.0.2.Alpha, Administrator 1.0.19, Query Browser 1.1.5 and Connector/J 3.1.6 on Windows XP (home). If I try to create a new table from the Query browser or from the Administrator, the connection is immediately lost and the server shuts down. Creating a new schema seems to succeed, but trying to open it results in the same error. Just can't do anything; the server always shuts down immediately.

The error text I get is: A MySQL error was encountered. The message is: Error while fetching Schema Table Status. The following error occurred: Lost connection to MySQL server during query (2013).
