Description:
----[For better reports, please attach the log file after submitting. You can find it in /Users/fabianospiga/Library/Application Support/MySQL/Workbench/log/wb.log]

I'm using an installed version of MySQL Server 3. 5.7.12.

From the MySQL Workbench I created an absolute first MySQL connection with default parameters - without setting a password - and the system has accepted it.The MySQL Workbench opened its workbench page, then I was adding a Schema and the workbench crashed.

I repeat: creating a Schema with the feature command right click => create a new schema, the Workbench crashed !
After that, since I re-opened the workbench, whenever I tried to connect back with the MySQL connection, I got a warning prompted "Cannot connect to Database server", both if I used a blank space for the password or I set the password to 'root'… whatever the case for log in attempts - password 'YES' and 'NOT' - I always receive the "Cannoct connect to Database server" prompt. I deleted the first MySQL connetion instance and recreated a new one, always with default parameters [localhost + port 3306] but the only outcome I get is the "Cannot connect to… " thing. No way to get connecting to the server, either using or not using a password.

How to repeat:
create a MySQL Database => Connect to Database instance with default parameters in MySQL Workbench and set - or not - a password, then see if it's possible to connect to the server

When I try to make a Test Connection, the system prompts me back:

"Failed to Connect to MySQL at localhost:3306 with user root" both if I use or don't use the password:

Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)"

Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)

And if I store a password into the keychain [I attach here a screenshot of the "connection settings with password stored"], then, when I try to launch the connection, I get the prompt for the password as an infinite loop [check the other screenshot called "prompt for password in infinite loop"]

I TRIED EVERYTHING I COULD THINK OF… now ?

NOW: SORRY TO HAVE SPOILED YOUR PRECIOUS TIME GUYS !
I DESERVE YOUR MERCIFUL COMPASSION FOR THIS !

I forgot that when installing MySQL Server vs. 5.7.12 the system gave me  a DEFAULT alphanumeric password, that I wrote on a paper;

then, after the installation of MySQL Workbench, I was trying to launch the server connection - with the feature <password not stored> when launching it, but - of course ! - being the localhost MySQL server password set to THAT initial alphanumeric code then Workbench would ignore ANY attempt to use a blank space or any other root saved to the keychain on the fly.

SOLUTION: that meant only to digit the initial alphanumeric MySQL server password and then the Workbench prompted me:

"This is the initial password, choose another one to continue" [something like that]

so I just digited that original alphanumeric string, then I choosed another password, repeated it and boom !

here we go: I'm into the workbench and everything seems to be working fine.

Once again: SORRY TO HAVE SPOILED YOUR PRECIOUS TIME, please consider this ticket to be CLOSED.

Thank You, Best Regards
