Description:
Recently when trying to connect to my SQL server thru SSH it gives me the error that it "Cannot connect to database server." The database is hosted on a raspberry pi running Rasbian-Jesse. It is on the same network as the computer that I'm trying to connect from.

I know for sure that the database is running, as I can connect to it using command line and the queries work on my website.

Things I have tried:
Restarting the server
Restarting the pi itself
Restarting computer
Changing ports
Disabling antivirus
Connecting from different users
Using different versions of workbench
Complete reinstall of Rasbian, MySQL and Apache on the pi.

However, when I go to edit the connection and click Test Connection it comes back saying "Successfully made the MySQL connection with the parameters defined for this connection." Yet when I go to actually connect it gives the error.

How to repeat:
It seems to replicate this; have most current workbench version and try to connect with (cant speak about other versions, but) 5.5.44 MySQL server.

Suggested fix:
Since it has worked for months previously it may be an issue with something to do with workbench no supporting older versions of mySQL, as i'm pretty sure it started when I upgraded the version on the pi.

I made a new user, granted all privileges and then tried again.

Once again, test connection was successful while actually connecting gave the error.

I uploaded the new log

Today I ran into a similar problem in a more simple setup, eg. no raspberry, no ssh, but a simple connection over TCP 127.0.0.1 and running mysqld on Windows.

In the end it appeared that Workbench ONLY would connect when started 'as administrator'. Without elevated rights, it would not connect. Even if I disabled the firewall.

Please try version 6.3.9. Thanks.
