Description:
While attempting to connect to MySQL server 4.1.8 running on a RedHat Enterprise 3 server, I'm getting this error message inside Crystal Reports 9 (service pack 3). Just installed MyODBC version 3.51.10. My workstation is Windows XP SP2.

On entering my password to the ODBC connection, this occurs:

Logon Failed.
Details: HY000:[MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Could not determine the driver name so could not lookup setup library.

Duplicated on a second computer also running Windows XP, Crystal 9, MyODBC 3.51.10 and different usernames and passwords.

"Test" button from ODBC System DSN tests ok.

How to repeat:
Attempt to connect to MySQL from crystal reports 9, and entering your password in the username/password dialogue box that pops up.

Hi,

Thank you for your bug report.
I have checked this and it is a reproduceable in myodbc3 3.51.10.

Please, try it with the new Connect/ODBC dll at the attachment, you need to copy this only to %WINDOWSPATH/%systm32.
Can you give me feedback about testing.

Thanks.
Best Regards.

Connect/ODBC Driver 3.51.10-3

I copied the attached myodbc3.dll file into my C:\WINDOWS\System32 directory, rebooted my PC, but I'm still getting the same error message.

I'm also getting an additional error message in a different application, using MyODBC, that is saying 'Unable to connect to "localhost". The thing is, I'm not trying to connect to 'localhost'. I clearly have a server specified in my System DSN, but it doesn't seem to be using it, or picking it up.

Hi,

I can give you the following work around for this problem!
If you execute the following command with "mysql" - program, then is it possible to connection with Connector/ODBC to Database, without any errors:
"
mysql> set password for <odbcuser>@localhost=password('');
"

Please, can you give me feedback about your trying!
Thanks!
Best Regards
Harun

MySQL is running on a RedHat Enterprise 3 server, not on my local workstation. So I'm not sure this will do anything as I don't have a mysql program on my local workstation.

Think i get the same problem too, but now the problem is just about preview when the application is running, but there's no problem when i preview the report in main report preview in Crystal Report. My problem actually just how to make the report appear, without a logon window that wants me to input username and password but still failed when i try to fill it right.
