Description:
I've installed MySQL 5.6 on Windows 2012 runs like a champ. Upon rebooting I can no longer log in through Workbench. I either receive "Please stand by..." which never goes away or "cannot connect to database server 'root'@'localhost' (using password:YES"

I have tried resetting the password but that does not change anything. I also tried running the service as Administrator and that did not help.

I uninstalled everything, reinstalled and it worked great again, until I restarted the server at which time I could not log into MySQL anymore.

How to repeat:
Install MySQL 5.6 on Windows Server 2012, restart server.
