Following repair through Control panel of Workbench, of Utilities and of C++ Connector, database connection capability is regained.

Description: After an update on 7-14-2015 of Workbech 6.3, the SQL editor (started from database tab, after accepting root and stored password {which when tested separately acknowledge that the MYSQL server runs and that connection can be made) flashed "Opening SQL Editor" and then reports: MYSQL Workbench has encountered a problem: Parameter not Valid. How to repeat: as described Suggested fix: don't know
