In response to your email, When I click on Open model the workbench immediately crashes the box to choose the model from never appears. As I don't know the file type that models, I am unable to provide you with any attachments.

Model files will have extension of .mwb, so if you have model "Sakila" then model file will be named "Sakila.mwb". Please locate the model file and provide us(you can make it private after uploading to the bug report) to repeat the issue at our end. Also, by default recently used models are listed on the WB start up page which also shows path to the model file. Thanks, Umesh

Looks like this issue is not related to opening a specific model but to open any model. When the open dialog already crashs WB then something really weird is happening. Jason, can you run WB from command line window but add a parameter to the command, e.g: MySQLWorkbench.exe -log-level=debug2 This will enable more verbose logging. Then when WB is running open the log folder (via Help -> Locate Log Files. This is to ease finding the current log file. Now try to open a model file and when WB crashs, before you run it the next time go the log folder and check your wb.log file. It should contain a lot more information now. Please attach this logfile here (make it private). Thanks.

The similar bug is going with me, but I'm using Windows 10. Workbench shows the follow message: "The type initilizer for 'HtmlRenderer.Utils.FontsUtils' threw an exception We are sorry for the inconvenience but an unexpected exception has been raised by one of the MySQL Workbench modules. In order to fix this issue we would kindly ask you to file a bug report. You can do that by pressing the [Report Bug] button below. " I just try to open a connection with root.

I too experience this error 'The type initializer for HtmlRenderer.Utils.FontsUtils threw an exception.' on Windows 10. App is unusable.

This error comes up when something with the fonts is not ok (e.g. "Arial Regular" could not be found). We have added an extra check, but of course WB cannot fix font problems. Anyway, see if the latest version (6.3.6) works better for you.
