Description:
Ran the updates and the system hung on the myslq package. Have no idea how to get back to a working system. Have followed a number of suggestion about removing mysql and starting over. Nothing works. Even running dpkg in fix mode does not work.
Below is the terminal output after 3 hours of waiting

Selecting previously unselected package mysql-apt-config.
(Reading database ... 173414 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to unpack .../mysql-apt-config_0.3.4-1ubuntu14.10_all (2).deb ...
Unpacking mysql-apt-config (0.3.4-1ubuntu14.10) ...
Setting up mysql-apt-config (0.3.4-1ubuntu14.10) ...

How to repeat:
Unistall current packages
$ sudo apt-get remove mysql-server mysql-client mysql-common
$ sudo apt-get autoremove
$ sudo apt-get autoclean
Install dependency: sudo apt-get install libaio1
Download the currect mysql-apt-config<version>.deb for your installation from http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/repo/apt/.
Install into your system: sudo dpkg -i mysql-apt-config<version>.deb
hangs at this point
