Thanks for the info - we will have a HP-UX/IA64 build system available within the next few days and will then be able to verify this.

OK, we finally have our HP-UX/IA64 build system up and running: HP-UX B.11.22 U ia64 0127632433 Libtool indeed uses .sl as the suffix for shared libraries: soname_spec="\${libname}\${release}.sl\$major" But are you sure that this really should be changed to ".so"? A quick glance into /usr/lib revealed, that all libraries end on ".sl" in there. Do you have any special reason why you think that "*.so" is correct here?
