Description:
hi
we were previously using MySQL RPMs V4.0.x and everything was fine - especially with backward-compatibility, currently distributed MySQL-shared-compat-4.1.8-0.i386.rpm does not allow to upgrade because of possible dependency-conflicts, like we're experiencing:

error: Failed dependencies:
libmysqlclient.so.12 is needed by (installed) postfix-2.1.5-3.MySQL.sasl1.tls.vda.i386

solution anyone?

not one that I know of

the share-compat package only provides compat libraries for MySQL 3.23 (.10) and not compat libraries for MySQL 4.0 (.12).
The rpms need to be packages with the .12 libraries, or provide a seperate package with the .12 libraries.

Cool.. Thanks for fixing this in the offical RPMS.. the 4.1.9 release has the required shared libraries.
